About 90 minutes from Salt Lake City, along the Pony Express trail in the Utah desert lives the Onaqui Herd of wild horses. I spent five days following and photographing these magnificent horses, stallions sparring, mares nursing new foals, families bonding. It was often difficult to capture a photo of a single horse with the stunning desert background as the herd moved in sync with bonded bands often clustered together. As the herd moved over the rise of a small hill, I was able to photograph this young stallion with the backdrop of the mountains, in awe of the majesty of it all.
