After hours of trekking in the Volcanoes National Park, we found the Kwitonda group. Among them, a mother and her infant. The young gorilla played with boundless energy, but was cautious to stay near to her, both aware of our presence. In this moment, he snuggled in for a kiss, and Mom glanced up looking straight at my lens as if to say, “you are invading our privacy.” I almost felt like I was intruding, a voyeur to a private moment.
