The oxpecker and the giraffe have a unique bond. Oxpeckers dine on the ticks and other parasites that feast on the giraffe’s blood. The giraffes get a relief from the itching and the oxpeckers get a safe place to perch while eating. Watching this giraffe drink with birds pecking at its eyelids and in its ears was fascinating. The birds were removing bugs from precarious places yet the giraffe seemed to have no complaints!
