Meaning Hope or desire, the name Asha has its origins in multiple cultures and languages, primarily derived from Sanskrit, where it means "hope" or "wish." As I stood among the Onaqui wild horse herd, I could only hope that alll wild horses would continue to roam wild and free in the American West, and not be subject to the cruel and inhumane round-ups that have become part of herd management. The gentle nature of this horse’s face particularly tugged at my heart strings, and I hoped only for her continued freedom and for her wild spirit to remain.
