Out In Front

from $850.00

Limited Edition of 25 per size

Common dolphins frequently play near the bow of boats, engaging in what is described as bow-riding behavior. The dolphins swim in the pressure wave created by the boat, using it to propel themselves forward with less effort. It's a playful activity that can also be a way for them to conserve energy or even hunt for fish disturbed by the boat. In Loreto, Baja California Sur, Mexico, we came across a pod with hundreds of dolphins, leaping, playing and taking turns bow-riding. This dolphin seemed to take the lead, leaping just a few feet from the bow as if piloting us along.
