Two mobula rays soared from the Sea of Cortez in perfect unison—a wild, wordless pas de deux. Like dancers mid-performance, they lifted from the water in mirrored arcs, their wings slicing the air with effortless grace. But unlike the rehearsed precision of ballet, this duet was pure instinct—fluid, fleeting, and unscripted. From my kayak, I watched breathlessly as they vanished back into the sea, the surface closing behind them like a curtain. In that brief performance, nature offered choreography no stage could match—a reminder of both its brilliance and its fragility.
